Portugal's retail sales decreased in June from the previous year.
Retail sales dropped a seasonally adjusted 1.6% year-on-year in June, compared to a 0.8% growth in the previous month, a report by the Statistics Portugal showed on Friday. A year earlier, retail sales slipped 0.7%.
Month-on-month, retail sales decreased 1.1% in June, following a 1% fall in the previous month. In the second quarter, retail sales dropped 0.3% on an annual basis, compared to a 0.8% growth in the first quarter.
Separately, the statistical office said, industrial production increased 3.4% annually in June, unchanged from the previous month. A year earlier, production decreased 10.3%. On a monthly basis, industrial output slipped 0.5%, after rising 1.2% in May. In the second quarter, industrial output grew 2.5% from the previous year, following a 3.8% rise in the first quarter.
